Who pays us
- Homeowners pay nothing. Requesting and comparing quotes is free, and you never have to choose an installer.
- Installers pay us a fee when you choose to connect with them. That's the moment we send them your contact details, at your request. Installers who quote but aren't chosen don't pay for your contact details, because they never get them.
- Fees can differ by market and installer, and we may waive or reduce them for installers who are new to our network.
What we don't take money for
- Placement. Installers can't pay to rank higher, be "featured" or be shown first.
- Your phone number. We don't sell it to a list of companies.
- Loans. We don't take money from lenders or loan companies, and we don't make or arrange loans.
- Your data. We don't sell personal information to data brokers or advertisers.
Why fees don't affect ranking
Quotes are ordered by the method we publish on How it works: lifetime cost per useful kWh first, then installer reputation, equipment, warranties, production credibility and timeline. The code that ranks quotes doesn't read what any installer pays us, and we keep a record of each ranking and its inputs so we can show that.
Yes, we earn money only when you connect with an installer. That's exactly why the ranking can't see fees, and why you can always walk away without choosing anyone.
Why we tell you
Comparison sites that rank by who pays them aren't comparing anything. Federal rules expect businesses to disclose payments like ours clearly, and we'd rather you hear it from us up front. Questions? Email support@sunbid.energy.
