Agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and 5207418 LLC ("SunBid," "we," "us") about your use of the SunBid website and service. By using the site or clicking a button that says you agree, you accept these terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy, including the Notice at Collection. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
What we do and don't do
SunBid is a free quote-comparison service. We estimate your roof and solar potential, send a de-identified profile of your project to licensed installers who serve your area when you ask us to, and show you the quotes they send, side by side. When you choose an installer, we introduce you.
We are not a contractor, installer, lender, or broker. We don't install, sell, design or finance solar systems, we don't negotiate prices for you, and we don't make quotes or offers. Every quote on SunBid is the installer's own offer. We're not a government program and aren't affiliated with any government agency or utility.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18, live in the United States, and own the property you request quotes for or have the owner's permission. Use the service only for your own home, not to collect quotes for someone else without their permission or to research installers for a competing business.
Your information
Give us accurate information, including a phone number that's yours. Installers rely on what you tell us to prepare quotes. How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Policy. Before you choose an installer, installers see only a de-identified profile of your project.
Estimates
Roof measurements, system sizes, production figures and savings estimates on SunBid are educational estimates for information only. They aren't a quote or offer, and they may be wrong: imagery can be outdated, and shade, roof condition, electrical work and local rules can change what's possible. Your installer confirms everything on site before you sign. We don't guarantee any amount of savings.
Quotes and installers
- Installers are independent businesses, not our employees or agents. Each quote is an offer from the installer named on it, who is responsible for its accuracy, its contract, its financing terms (if any), its warranties and its work.
- If you go ahead, you sign directly with the installer. We never collect deposits, payments or signatures on installation contracts.
- We check that installers hold a contractor license and show the license number and the date we last checked it. Licenses can change, so verify the license yourself before you sign (in California, use the CSLB license lookup).
- In California, your installer must give you the Solar Energy System Disclosure Document and the CPUC Solar Consumer Protection Guide before you sign. You can cancel a home solar contract within 3 business days (5 if you're 65 or older).
- Any financing is offered by the installer or its lender and is subject to their approval and terms. We don't make loans, arrange credit or check credit.
Ranking and fees
We sort quotes using the method we publish on How it works, mainly lifetime cost per useful kWh, plus installer reputation, equipment, warranties, production credibility and timeline. Installers pay us a fee when you connect with one. That never changes the order: our ranking doesn't use what any installer pays. See How we make money. A higher-ranked quote isn't a recommendation that it's right for you; it's your decision.
Calls, texts and email
We email you about your request and post updates to your dashboard. When you submit your contact details, we text a one-time verification code to the number you give us (see SMS Terms). Beyond that, we call or text you only if you gave the optional consent on our contact step, under our SMS Terms. That consent isn't required to get quotes or buy anything, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying STOP or telling us any other reasonable way. Installers can contact you only after you choose them and agree, as described on Consent terms.
Your dashboard link
We send you a private link to your dashboard. Anyone with the link can see your project, so don't share it. If you think someone else has it, email us and we'll replace it.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- submit false information, someone else's contact details, or requests for a property you don't own or represent;
- scrape, copy or resell quotes, installer information or other site content;
- use bots or automated tools, interfere with the site's security, or try to access data that isn't yours;
- try to identify homeowners from de-identified project profiles; or
- use the service to break the law or to harass anyone.
We may suspend access or cancel requests that break these rules.
Our content
The site, its design, text, estimates and software belong to 5207418 LLC or its licensors. Map imagery is provided by third-party mapping providers under their own terms and attribution. You may use the site for your personal, non-commercial purpose of getting and comparing solar quotes.
Disclaimers
We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that any installer will quote, that quotes will be the lowest available, or that any installer's products, work, financing or savings claims will meet your expectations. Nothing on the site is tax, legal or financial advice.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, 5207418 LLC isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for anything an installer, lender or other third party does or fails to do. Because our service is free to homeowners, our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Disputes
If you have a problem, email us first at support@sunbid.energy and give us 30 days to try to resolve it. These terms are governed by California law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes that aren't resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, unless the law of your state gives you the right to bring a claim where you live, or you may bring a claim in small claims court where you live.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date. Changes apply going forward; if a change is significant, we'll tell you before it applies to an open request.
