What we are. SunBid is a free quote-comparison service. We are not a contractor, installer, lender, or broker, and we don't install, sell, or finance solar systems. Every quote on SunBid is an offer from an independent, licensed contractor, who is responsible for its quote, contract, and work.
How we make money. Installers pay us a fee when you connect with one. That never changes the order. We sort quotes by our published method: lifetime cost per useful kWh, equipment, warranties, and installer reputation. Details
Not government or utility. SunBid is not a government program and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any government agency or utility.
Estimates. Satellite roof measurements and savings estimates are for information only and aren't a quote or offer. Your installer will confirm everything on site.
Tax credits. The federal Residential Clean Energy Credit (Section 25D) isn't available for systems installed after December 31, 2025. Leases and power purchase agreements may still carry a federal credit that the installer or leasing company claims. Talk to a tax professional about your situation.
Financing. We don't make loans or check credit. Financing, if offered, comes from installers or their lenders and is subject to their approval. Credit ranges you share are self-reported.
California consumer protections. Check any contractor's license at cslb.ca.gov (opens in a new tab). Before you sign, your installer must give you California's Solar Energy System Disclosure Document and the CPUC Solar Consumer Protection Guide (opens in a new tab). You can cancel a home solar contract within 3 business days (5 if you're 65 or older).
